When and Where are the games played?

Games are played on Saturdays at 10:00am and 11:30am. Games are held at Van Cortlandt Park parade grounds. In addition to street parking, 250 parking spaces are available at Van Cortlandt Park Golf Course. Directions are available here.

How long is the season?

The Bronx Irish Soccer League is composed of 2 seasons – fall and spring. The spring season typically starts the first week in April and ends early June. The fall season begins the after Labor Day weekend and generally ends first week of December. Teams also participate in a knock-out Cup competition each spring.

How long are the games?

Two 40 minute halves with a 5 minute halftime.

How much are the fees?

The fees depend on the team you join.  The cost varies from $25 – $60 per season, depending on the team and its sponsorships.

Is there an age limit?

The BISL fields teams of all ages. Minimum age to play is 18 years old.

How do I register?

If you’re interested in joining the league, please go the the Contact page and send in your information. A BISL representative will reach out to you.

How competitive is the league?

The BISL welcomes all skill levels to the league.  We have everything from Division I soccer players to novice level soccer players.

Can I take public transportation to the fields?

Yes. Take the last stop on the 1 train (242nd Street) will drop you off just south of the park. Walk up Broadway for about 5 minutes and the fields will be on the right.

Are there referees for the games?

Yes. All referees are professionally certified and assigned by an established referee assignor. FIFA rules are observed during play.

Do the teams have coaches?

Some teams have do and some do not. The decision is made by the individual teams.
