Parlour FC met McKeon’s on a warm September morning. PFC was without several of their regular players but welcomed three new players: Kimie Kobayashi, Genevieve Aidala, and Erin Mendez. McKeon’s Justine Clifford was in the middle in front of the goal but surrounded by PFC’s defenders and saw a great opportunity to head the ball to Melissa Ryerson on the left who was able to slot the ball in the corner pocket. McKeon’s kept up the pressure but PFC keeper Susan Kistler made multiple tough saves. PFC had their own chances on offense but were unable to finish. McKeon’s demonstrated great team work and passing that resulted in Kelly O’Neill heading it to Meg Baggott who dribbled and passed it to Ryerson for the second goal of the game.
In the second half, Fallon Martin ran up from the left defense, got the ball around a PFC midfielder and successfully crossed it to Laura Rizzo across the field where she scored with a lucky yet beautiful lefty! But PFC did not quit and midfielders, Liz Eles and Jane Kenney, worked extremely hard on both sides of the field. Kistler and the entire PFC defense did well the whole game. McKeon’s were very hungry for the win and defended the shutout while forwards and midfielders didn’t stop attacking & shooting but were denied by Kistler of further scoring, while McKeon’s defense communicated and covered the field really well.
Best for PFC: Susan Kistler
Best for McK: It was a great team effort by everyone the day!
